I enjoyed joining in on Plucky In Love’s confessions last Wednesday so much I’m thinking about making this a weekly post for me as well. Today at work was the day of cancellations for me which is crazy because it’s the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and we are only open today and tomorrow. I’ll look on the bright side though and it gives me a chance to put this post together for tomorrow (always been a glass half full kind of gal).
I confess.. I went blonder last week. I am blonder than I’ve ever been before. It almost has a ‘platinum’ look to it and I absolutely love it! Kelci had me take her very light a couple of months back and I fell in love with the look (on her). Until recently I never gave it much thought to go so blonde on myself. I was naturally blonde as a kid but around those awkward pubescent middle school years, my hair started getting darker and darker. I wasn’t going to have any of that and started having my hair hilited at 14. I’ve only gone dark twice. The first time was right before my senior year of high school which lasted the remainder of the school year and the second (and last) time was about 6 years ago which only lasted a few months. I doubt I will ever venture to the dark side again.
I confess.. I have an obsession with Chapstick and lip balms (more so Chapstick). I rarely wear lipstick, but when I do, I usually cover it in Chapstick. I keep one on me at all times. Due to a lack of pockets in most of my clothes, you can undoubtedly always find a tube tucked away in my bra. You’ve got to use all the extra space you’ve got right??
I confess.. This week is one of my absolute favorite weeks of the year. Our salon is always closed on Sunday’s and Monday’s (my usual weekends). Years ago we would re-open the Friday after Thanksgiving but the shop was always extremely slow following the holiday. I had taken it upon myself to stop working Friday’s and the salon followed suit. When you are already off Thursday and Friday then why not take Saturday off as well, right? So now we are officially closed Thursday through the following Monday. Hello 5-day vacay! I never leave town for the holidays so it is the most relaxing staycation at home.
I confess.. I love a house decorated beautifully for Christmas. Growing up in my parents house we always went all out (overboard in my Dad’s eyes) with decorating all of the ‘family’ rooms and even the patio. I’ve brought this love of Christmas decorating over into my own homes over the years with collecting tree ornaments on vacations or Christmas mugs from Marshals for the kitchen. I always wait till Thanksgiving is over because I feel each holiday should have its time, and then it’s balls to walls and I go all out. I put on Christmas music and make ‘Christmassy’ drinks and just have fun with it. I usually decorate the house myself. My husband isn’t really into the decorating and it just so happens that the first week of December usually lands on one of Hunter’s mom’s weeks. But, I get it done. Afterwards, I like to sit back, sip on my drink, and just enjoy and admire all the lights and festive decor.
I confess.. This one is tough because I always get dirty or shocked looks when I admit this. I am not a fan of Thanksgiving Day food (waiting for the looks…). The turkey is good, but I much prefer leftover turkey sandwiches. I don’t like gravy (this one really upsets my husband) or cranberry sauce. I can’t stand candied sweet potatoes. Aren’t they sweet enough as they are without adding all the sugar and marshmallows (yuck)? People have scoffed at me when I’ve shared my dislike for Thanksgiving food with them. There are some dishes I enjoy. My mom puts together this kick-ass broccoli casseroles with cheese and ritz crackers and recently my sister has been doing a banging Mac n’ Cheese dish. To finish this off, I’m not big on sweets or desserts but I do love a good pumpkin pie!
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday with their families and loved ones and CHEERS to my next 5 days off!
