Here are a few pictures of us from our first day in Orlando. We had purchased passes for all 4 Disney parks and surprised Hunter for Christmas. I had not been to Disney since high school so I was beyond excited! I had taken more snaps than pictures so I apologize for the lack of photos. We drove up last Thursday afternoon and hit 5 o’clock traffic and didn’t get there until around 9:30. The further north we drove the colder it got. Luckily I had been watching the weather forecast like a hawk and made sure to pack us all accordingly. We checked into the Maingate Lakeside Resort that I had found a Groupon for online. The resort (really, a hotel/ large motel), was located only 2 miles from Disney property so we didn’t have to drive far to reach the parks. We unpacked as soon as we arrived and got ready for bed for our first day of Disney.
Up and early the next morning, got dressed and made our way down to the car to a dead battery (blah!). Glenn found some maintenance men to jump us and we headed to the nearest Walmart. Glenn was in and out so fast, had the battery installed and we were on the road again within 15 minutes (maybe 10). It almost felt like a Nascar pit stop. My knight and shining car man (hehe).
The Magic Kingdom was an absolute blast! We got all my favorite rides in; Space Mountain, Splash Mountain (Hunter’s first time on this in which he absolutely loved the drop in the end), The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, Thunder Mountain, and the boys even went on The Little Mermaid ride for me. It was my first experience with their fast passes which I thought would be super confusing but worked out perfect! Where were these 16+ years ago when I came more often?
We got back to the hotel room to discover a broken toilet amongst other problems we were having and after an annoying 2 hours we were finally moved to a better room. Needless to stay we wont be staying at the ‘resort’ again. Though at the end of the day, we had a great first day and had 3 more to go!
