My sister is officially a college graduate! We attended her graduation this past Saturday and it is safe to say we were all so very proud to see her walk across that stage to receive her college diploma. She also graduated Summa Cum Laude, meaning she graduated with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.90 (aka the top of her class!).
After a few gruelling and boring years attending Miami Dade College, she went on to attend Barry University, a private college with more of a one-on-one atmosphere with the professors and students. After starting Barry, she immediately started to excel at school and was getting a constant GPA of 4.0. I could only imagine what an accomplished feeling this must have been for her and this day only added to what an amazing year she has had.
(apologies for the grainy iPhone pics)
Following her graduation, we took a short drive over to American Social, a restaurant/bar in the Brickell area that overlooks the Miami River. It was a really cool place with a nice ambience that honor’s the country’s rich heritage with warm decor and features original old-Chicago brick walls, local Miami artists artwork, and a good old-fashioned handcrafted Ipe wood bar. They served amazing craft cocktails and offer 4 self-serve beer tap tables which include awesome IPA’s. A few of our friends joined us there to enjoy appetizers and drinks for a little celebration.
(again, sorry for the grainy pics)
We had a great evening spent with family and a few of our closest friends. It’s on nights like this one, when I am surrounded by these people in my life, my family, where I sit back and really realize how lucky I am to be a part of this family and life really can’t get any better (or can it?).
